Blue Planet Images - Photography by Robert Sanger

“I am by nature optimistic and I hope that my photographs and our publications bring to you moments of pleasure and an escape, if only in your mind’s eye, from all the bad news and anxieties in today’s world. This is not to ignore nor fail to care about these things but there is still so much beauty in the natural world to marvel at on this our Blue Planet and from which to draw continual pleasure which I hope I manage to portray for your enjoyment.”

Yet again my thanks to you if you have already purchased your copy or maybe copies of our Isles of Scilly 2020 Calendar - the 12th year we have produced it - to give as Christmas presents or for yourself, and especially my thanks for the many kind and appreciative messages I have again received this and every year. Here are just 2 – genuine!!! – ones:

“I had a look at the 2020 photos when I ordered. It looks as if it could be your best calendar yet. Best wishes for the coming year and I look forward to 2021.”
Mr R.F. of Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, U.K.

“This is my favourite calendar and the pictures always remind me of many happy holidays spent there! Thank you.”
Mrs H. E. – Wigan, Lancashire, U.K.

… and if that did not prompt you to place an order now ahead of the usual pre-Christmas rush during November and December, maybe this will persuade you to do so!!!

Special Offer – limited time only.

Special note - May Bank Holiday 2020:

In common with most publishers of calendars and diaries for 2020, ours were printed in February 2019 prior to the U.K. Government at short notice changing the date without any prior warning of next year’s May Bank Holiday from the previously published Monday 4th May to Friday 8th May to coincide with the 75th anniversary of the end of the 2nd World War in Europe - VE (Victory in Europe) Day. It would have been uneconomical and wasteful to shred and reprint all our calendars to reflect this small change and so like most publishers of calendars and diaries for 2020 we leave it to you to note this change by hand if you so wish. Thank you for your understanding.

Following the introduction of our new Puffins and other marine life greetings cards earlier this year, as reported in the May 2019 email newsletter, these greetings cards have quickly become our biggest selling greetings cards.

POLYPROPYLENE (“plastic”) WRAPPERS – an update

On the subject of “single use” plastic packaging and wrappers , for the time being we feel we need to continue to use our current supply of polypropylene wrappers to protect our greetings cards and calendars as we need to ensure that our meticulously hand-checked items continue to reach you in the same pristine condition as when we send them off to you and keep them together with their mailing envelopes. Our stringent quality checks, which we do ourselves by hand on every single item, mean that you should never receive any item from us with any faults or damage unless sustained in postal transit which is very rare even when going to New Zealand and Australia. But with trials we have run with retailers without wrappers they have reported the need for a wrapper onto which a pricing label can be stuck and that cards and envelopes have been damaged, separated and lost by browsing customers on point-of-sale displays, in some cases making them unsellable.

When buying from us directly, if you wish us to supply your calendars and greetings cards without wrappers we can of course do so on request.

In the meantime until we and manufacturers find a suitable alternative please bear with us on this and dispose of any wrappers on any of our products in an environmentally responsible way recycling whenever possible. The manufacturers of our wrappers tell me that there is a minority of local authorities and some supermarkets who can recycle these wrappers along with other plastic bags so you might like to check locally.

And finally:

Here is another in my occasional series of pictures to amuse you taken on my world travels, this time of a warning sign at an unguarded railroad crossing on the main street in Skagway, Alaska, frequented by many cruise ship passengers:

As always do not hesitate to email or telephone me if I can be of any assistance and thank you for your interest in my photography and our publications.

With best regards and thank you,
Robert Sanger
